These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the roletype website and services (“roletype”, “we”, “us”), provided by:

By using roletype or purchasing a report, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

roletype provides a self-assessment that maps your answers to one or more roles from The Hype Cycle Playbook framework. It offers a free result and an optional paid detailed report generated in part with AI.

The assessment and report are for informational and educational purposes only. They do not constitute professional, psychological, legal, financial, or career advice, and they are not a substitute for professional guidance. Any decisions you make based on the results are your own responsibility.

• The free assessment and free result are available at no cost.
• The detailed report is a paid digital product. The price shown at checkout is final and includes any applicable VAT.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details.
• A contract for the paid report is concluded when you complete payment. The report is delivered as digital content immediately after purchase — on-screen and, where an email address is provided, by email.

As a consumer, you generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital content. Because the report is digital content that is delivered immediately, you expressly agree that we begin generating and providing it as soon as you complete your purchase, and you acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal once delivery has begun (§ 356(5) BGB / Art. 16(m) Consumer Rights Directive).

Until generation of your report has begun, you may withdraw without giving reasons by contacting legal@roletype.com.

Beyond your statutory rights, if a technical fault prevents delivery of your report, or the report is not made available to you, contact us and we will re-deliver it or refund your payment.

You agree not to:

• Interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or its systems;
• Scrape, resell, or systematically extract the assessment, questions, or report content;
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.

The assessment, its questions, the role framework, the report content, and the roletype branding are protected by intellectual property rights and remain our property or that of our licensors. Upon purchase, you receive a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use your report for your own personal purposes. You may not republish, resell, or redistribute it.

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Parts of the report are generated using AI and may contain inaccuracies or generalizations; the results are indicative, not definitive, and should be read in that spirit.

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, and for damages arising from injury to life, body, or health. For slight negligence, we are liable only for the breach of essential contractual obligations (cardinal obligations), and limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Any further liability is excluded. This does not affect mandatory statutory liability, including under the Product Liability Act.

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the service or legal requirements. The version in force at the time of your purchase applies to that purchase. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected. Where permitted by law, the place of jurisdiction is our registered seat.

The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obliged and not willing to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
